Web App for Orders and Inventory

Css, Html, JavaScript, jQuery, MySQL, PHP

My Capstone Project back in 4th year was a web-based Order Processing System with integrated Sales and Inventory for Kan-anan by the Sea, a seafood restaurant in Talisayan, Misamis Oriental. I was working with this project as a full-stack role without having prior knowledge working with backend. The project was made using tech such, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, and MySQL.

The system itself automated the whole process of receiving, managing, and fulfilling orders. Orders placed by customers were recorded, sent to the kitchen, and tracked until completion. At the same time, it was connected to the sales and inventory module, which updated stock levels in real time, generated sales reports, and helped the restaurant manage resources more efficiently.

Before this system, Kan-anan by the Sea relied heavily on manual processes that often caused inaccuracies and extra workload for the staff. By introducing automation, the project helped reduce errors, improved efficiency, and provided useful sales insights that the restaurant could rely on.
This project became my foundation in web development because it allowed me to practice problem-solving, learn how to handle real-time data processing, and implement features I never thought I could build at the time. It taught me the importance of consistency, how regularly practicing coding helps you master it over time.

In addition, as I work this project, I realized that working alone is not enough, you really need someone or a team to finish the task faster and efficient, because what I experienced while working with this project was chaotic, some features and functionalities took me 3-4 weeks to solve. But as I go along and having a frequent virtual discussion with my classmates who are also the developers, it made the journey at ease since we were able to check each of our works and progresses.

Overall, this capstone project didn’t just solve a real problem for a local business, it also gave me the confidence and foundation to pursue web development further.

Note: The system does not have a public-facing link as it was developed exclusively for the restaurant’s internal use.
